Dear
friends and neighbors,
This email is only being sent to those
of you who so enthusiastically participated in our community
cookbook benefitting La Misión
Children's Fund. Without your help, it would not have happened – but
it DID! Thank you so very much!
The cookbook, which is called The
Joy of Baja - Recipes and Stories from Our Neighbors' Tables,
should be back from the printer in
very early December, in plenty of time for holiday gift-giving, hostess
gifts for parties, etc.
Some of you have already ordered your
copies in advance at the recent Art Show, but we're giving anyone
that sent in recipes, this
one last opportunity to get cookbooks at the advance discounted price,
and to make sure you, who have participated, are assured
of getting books in case they sell out. It is a very nice book!
The Joy
of Baja is over 300 pages and over 300 recipes, from approximately 130 different
people or restaurants.
There are beautiful color photographs
from Baja, numerous stories from most of you about how you came
to live here and why
you love it, and some wonderful historical bits about our area. And who couldn't
use a translation (English-Spanish) of the various pescado
(fish),
or beef cuts, or poultry …?
Some more delightful
news is that Ocean's Flavor Sea Salt has sponsored the
printing, so every dollar of the proceeds from
book
sales will be used to support Casa de Paz orphanage and the Nutrition Center
and LMCF's other projects. If you're not already familiar
with Oceans Flavor products, please go to www.oceansflavor.com, to see what you
might like to try in your new recipes!
Your recipe contributions
were so generous that the book has many more recipes, stories,
photos and total pages than anyone
could have anticipated, but even though the size and value of the book has
greatly increased, you will have this chance to order at the pre-order
price: $12 each if you order 5 or more books now, or $14 each for less
than
5 copies. After the books arrive in Baja in early December,
the price will be $17 each or $15 for 5 or more each bought at the same time.
In the
near future, you and your friends will also be able to order
cookbooks through the website www.lamisionchildrensfund.com,
using Paypal. You'll be notified as soon as that option is available,
but for now, in order to get the lower pre-order price, please
use the attached form.
Thank you, again, for
allowing this project to happen. Without you … it
would not have been possible!
Most sincerely,
Katie Morningstar (Editor)
Anna Zimmerman (Co-Editor)
Nadine de Jong (Graphics Editor)
p.s. As a thank you for your
advance order, please enjoy a recipe sample (below) while waiting
for your books
to arrive!
