Seven years ago, Al Kirchner and Alan Fisher, the owners of Ocean's Flavor had the idea of producing naturally low sodium salt. After searching the world for a suitable place, they came to a small village in Latin America that had the right environment, the ideal climate, and the necessary support for processing. That was all that was needed to achieve their sales goals of the future. While Al Kirchner worked on developing the technical side of the plan, Alan Fisher put his ideas on the market. They called most of the salt vendors and dealers from Washington to New York. And although each of the prospects were good, no one could see what Al and Alan had in mind. "With nothing more to investigate, the early years were difficult." But despite difficulties they never lost sight of their goal.
In late 2005 after persuading Tekpak, their packaging partner, Ocean's Flavor, at the last minute, decided to participate in a large Food Exhibit in Las Vegas. Of course their sign was at the end of the last row away from the majority of the traffic, but it was worth betting on; afterall they were in Las Vegas. Then, with very limited funds, a provided table and very little literature (not very professional) Ocean's Flavor prepared to be discovered by the public. From the opening moment until the exhibition closed 4 days later, the small booth of 10 feet across was full of prospects and stakeholders. What was planned as a vacation became all work and definitely not on vacation. They had come to Las Vegas without great expectations and left with one foot in the market that was what was needed to see their dreams come true. The idea of producing and selling 100% natural salt, low in sodium, may be possible after all. What they did not know about the business of salt, they soon had committed to memory, the doors of opportunity were open.
It is safe to say that Ocean's Flavor has become a global sales leader, producing and distributing low sodium natural sea salt. Providing naturally low in sodium salt to the makers of soups, vegetables seasonings, frozen foods, red meat and white, national and international. Ocean's Flavor continues to develop its brand with a single premise of delivering quality sea salt , tasty and healthy which is a necessary requirement for each of us.
